My favorite activity from the summer institute was a potential and kinetic energy lab using popper toys like these and collecting data on the bounces. I can't wait to take this back to my classroom as an engage activity to introduce our kinetic and energy unit. It was a great connection between energy and graphing skills. Students work in groups to identify the types of energy at different points in the pop, and can also use their technology (ex. slow motion camera on the i-phone) to document the height of the jump.
